A Tangible Censorship Of The World

Image
A lot of the clues to the infrastructure of the One Piece world lie in the details we see in reality that aren’t transferred to the story. Though it is a fictional story, it draws a lot of inspiration from modern day reality and the truth of our society that mainstream media screens. Ever since Oda presented the impossible notion of a human and giant conceiving a child, I began considering something that, as a father, I would never question. Probably especially so for mothers; that children are a product of sexual intercourse. It’s exactly why we, the audience, imagined Gaban having sex with Ripley. Why do I bring this up? Because what other elements serve as preceptors to understanding that a child being born is inevitable? Pregnancy is a body morphing process that expands the belly, making it an obvious sign of an incoming newborn. Having mentioned that, have we ever seen a pregnant character in One Piece? Today, I'm going to argue that the...

Gunko is the first God Knight to be introduced into the story. The OP fan base has been anticipating this moment, and yet the populace was more concerned with the identity of the Red-Haired Hooded character at the time of Gunko’s introduction. Author’s have used this technique to keep their readers’ eyes off the ball. In this article, I’m going to digest and translate Gunko’s character design. Followed by sharing my hypothesis on how Gunko became a God Knight as well as what it takes to become one. Which would lead to what I think she used to be before she became a God Knight. Finally, I’ll point out the different signs that serve as easter eggs surrounding her arrival into the story. Let’s get into it.      At first glance, Gunko looks like the typical “petite girl packs a punch” character troupe, but she’s much more than that. One of the first details revealed about Gunko may be the most relevant to the God’s Knights’ connection t...

Franky is...ALIVE..!!      What did Franky see at the Adam Tree? Himself. Us, the readers shared Franky’s astonished expression at the history of the One Piece world laid out before us. Immediately our gaze scanned the tapestry for any details we can garner from it. But I believe Franky is staring at the base of the Adam Tree. His silhouette covers the most integral part of that history; his birth. I suspect that Oda draws inspiration from the Frankenstein monster and Astro Boy to model our favorite cyborg; Franky.      First of all, the identity of the person responsible for the mural is a mystery. Ripley suspects the artist to be a child, partly because it looks like the stuff of dreams. As we mature and grow further from our child-like imagination, we also become less capable of creating such expressive works of art. That is one of the great challenges of a professional artist; balancing boundless imagination and practicality. The conclusion I draw from ...

An Eye for the Arts To the DonQuix Fleet and newcomers... As a young reader, I gravitated towards manga for its vibrance over reading novels. I didn’t have the attention span, nor the imagination capable of rendering a novelist’s fictional world. Today, I partake in different, thick novels with no color or face to the character(s). Expanding my palate has effectively made me a connoisseur of fictional stories. As well as classes at my local university in Arts and how it’s applied all around us.  Looking around society with this new lense is a profound experience. Reassessing the purpose behind things and places I’ve been around my entire life. In digesting this content, I’ve learned that artists/authors/architects sometimes leave hints to their personal character and opinions in their work. Historically, this seemed to develop as a tactic to say what you wouldn’t be able to say without serious repercussions. Things that the world around you, just isn’t ready for. My reviews ...
